GTA .166666666666667 Robbing Modo The hand sewn detail and quality of materials differentiate this iteration of the "boatshoe." The leather is robust & finely finished; the soles are a hard, resilient rubber (like vintage Sperry's).Although the Sperry Topsider was my perennial boatshoe solution, it has suffered in quality over the past couple years (e.g., thinner leather, faster wearing soles, etc. -- perhaps attributable to wider mass production as every corner store has started selling Topsiders?)The Knockabout runs small. I'm a 9.5 Wide and my pair is a 10.5 and fits about right.
I recently purchased these boots in an 8WW (I usually wear an 8 1/2 wide in boots, but this was the only size left even close to that and they fit great). I have 17 3/4" calves, and I had yet to find boots that would zip up much further than my ankle- until I received these! They were tight the first time I zipped them up, but due to the amount of elastic in the boots, I really think they will stretch to fit just about any size calf. They are fairly comfortable because of Fitzwell's gel heel cushion (but it wouldn't hurt to add an insert), the ankle isn't too saggy, and I've been able to walk in them all day without any real problems. My only complaint about these boots is that they are NOT the same color as they are in the pictures. I don't know what the reason is for the difference but the boots I received were a flat medium brown color, as opposed to the shiny rich dark burnished brown in the pictures. This was a let down as I love the richness of the color in the pictures, but I'm keeping the boots because they fit so well. I may look into having them dyed at some point as they are real leather.Overall, I recommend these boots highly- but I wish I could post a picture so that you could see a more accurate representation of the color.
GTA .166666666666667 Robbing Modo I have used this bib several times now. As one of the other reviewers mentioned, the leg gripper was black, not red as depicted in site photo. At first, I felt the inseam was too short. After riding in them several times, I've adjusted to that. Overall, a very comfortable bib especially for long distance rides. I'd buy another pair.Update May 15, 2012: After using these bibs for a year, I've changed my opinion. The leg grippers continues to creap up my thigh further and further and the chamios is not that comfortable after multiple uses. Mind, I don't ride these bibs every day, only on long or special rides. Very disappointed given the cost and previous positive experience with PI products. I used a pair of Castelli Body Paint bibs for the same time period and they far exceed these!
